Azari Jahromi: The Share of the Digital Economy in the Country's Economy is Expanding

The Minister of Communication and Information Technology announced plans to increase the share of the digital economy in the country's economy.

According to the Public Relations of the Monetary and Banking Research Institute, Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi, speaking to a reporter at the news agency of the 9th Annual Conference on Electronic Banking and Payment Systems, emphasized the importance of digital transformation: “The fourth industrial revolution is one of the most important issues of the present century, which happens based on new technologies that create large, rapid and profound changes in all sectors, including economics, politics, employment, entrepreneurship, and so on. This Evolution in the structural system has led to the so-called digital transformation.”

Minister of Communication and Information Technology continued: Digital transformation seeks to increase efficiency and savings, develop technology applications, improve the quality of life and human well-being, which has made a move towards it inevitable; new technologies and new businesses are the major players that their development and utilization are significant for digital transformation.

"The digital economy will soon become the most important part of the world economy," he said, noting that digital transformation is essential. “Accordingly, countries around the world are engaged in digital transformation, and Iran has taken steps to expand the digital economy's share of the total economy. I believe that the digital economy is not a choice but a necessity.”

Azeri Jahromi emphasized: “Digital transformation is something that cannot be ignored and resisted to accept because it is merely like beating the air; we must accompany the wave of global developments and take advantage of the new capabilities to expand the country's economy.

In the end, the Minister of Communication and Information Technology stated: Just as IT-based companies in the world have succeeded in replacing oil giants and traditional industries, in Iran soon new businesses will be replaced with top profitable companies; The first step in the digital transformation is the development of information technology. The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology has made strategic investments in this area in the twelfth government and hopes that in the coming years, Iran will become a smart digital economy.

Note that the 9th Annual E-Banking and Payment Systems Conference will be held at the Milad Tower Conference Hall on March 1st and 2nd.
