The Industrial Production Index of TSE listed companies in March 2021 increased compared to the same period last year and had 4.2 percent growth. Considering that this growth in January and February were 3.8 and 4.4 percent, respectively, it can be said that the growth of the index in the winter months fluctuated around 4%, which shows an improvement compared to the first half of the year and a slight decrease compared to autumn. A review of industry statistics gives that the growth of the production index of the BASIC METALS industry in March, unlike the last two months, has been positive. The growth of this industry's sales index was more than the growth of its production, which shows the improvement of the demand situation in this industry.
Significant growth in the capital goods manufacturing industries (MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT MOTOR VEHICLES and ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT) is another positive point of the March report. In the second half of 2020, the growth of the production index of Import-oriented products and the growth of production of final products (consumer and capital) have been more than the growth of the total industrial production index. It indicates the positive growth achieved in 2020 has been mainly due to the increase in the production of import-substitute products (and the filling of their import gap).
